Description: Memantine is used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It should be used in patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. When starting memantine, the approval status was an indication of its low risk for use in elderly patients with underlying dementia or a history of major cognitive impairment who had been symptom positive for at least six months.
